There have been many big-money .CO domain sales in the past few months. Here are the unconfirmed sales, as reported by DN Sale Price and NamePros:
Dolphin Energy Limited has announced it has acquired the Dolphin.co Internet domain from .CO Internet S.A.S., the company that manages the .CO top-level domain. Dolphin Energy transports natural gas from Qatar to the UAE and Oman. According to the press release, “The company will use the domain name ‘dolphin.co’ to enhance its existing online presence with a short, memorable domain that will help the company to engage with its stakeholders locally and across the Middle East region more easily.” This purchase “comes at a time when there is an increase in the number of companies acquiring .CO domain names.”
DNJournal reported that Dolphin Energy paid $48,000 to .CO Internet for the Dolphin.co domain name. This is more good news for the .CO domain with another major legitimate company establishing its Web presence on the .CO domain. But as of today, Dolphin.co simply forwards to the existing DolphinEnergy.com website.
Following are the highest reported .CO domain sales for January 2-8, 2012, according to DNJournal:
666.co – $7,500
Hawk.co – $2,600
Gutschein.co – $1,905
Equity.co – $1,800
Tone.co – $1,050
It has been reported on NamePros.com that 666.co sold at Sedo for $7,500. This is less than two months after its original owner dropped the name. This represents yet another massive ROI for .CO domainers. The .CO market is heating up!

Domain entrepreneur Mike Mann just sold News.co for $50,000 through Sedo.com. As reported by The Domains, this year Mann also sold Business.co for $80K, Luxury.co for $60K, Finance.co for $25K, Women.co for $25K, Automotive.co for $20K, Cigar.co for $20K, and Ski.co for $20K. That’s $300,000 in income in just one year from .CO domains.
This is good news for .CO buyers, as it shows that .CO domains are gaining attention and respect, yet prices are still significantly less than equivalent .COM domains. And of course this is great news for .CO sellers, as it shows that businesses are willing to pay big bucks for category-killer .CO domains.
